Metro Parks disABILITIES Program

The Metro Parks Disabilities Program was founded in 1969 when Special Olympics was in its infancy, and, until a few years ago, the majority of its programming revolved around the Olympics. Now, with increasingly frequent performances, like Songs Through Sign staged at Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre this spring, the Drama Program is rapidly growing and meeting the needs of even more adults with disabilities. For those who are not able to participate in Special Olympics due to health issues, the Drama Program gives them many of the same opportunities, so they too can learn teamwork and feel like winners.
